Day 1

San Francisco Arrival

Arrive at San Francisco International Airport, pick up your car and proceed into the City by the Bay.

Day 2

San Francisco – Monterey/Carmel / driving distance: 130 mi / 210 km

Begin your drive this morning via Castroville to Monterey. Visit Cannery Row (brought to fame by John Steinbeck’s novel) and the quaint village of Carmel. Enjoy stunning views of the rugged coastline and the Pacific Ocean on 17-Mile Drive, then continue to your hotel for your overnight stay.

Day 3

Monterey/Carmel – Santa Barbara – Oxnard / driving distance: 280 mi / 451 km

Continue south along central California’s scenic Pacific Coast Highway. This twisting, cliffhugging route starts in Monterey and takes you through Big Sur where mountains plunge into the Pacific Ocean. Farther south, the landscape mellows to oak-studded hills as the road passes Hearst Castle and ends in Morro Bay. A short distance inland is the heart of the Central Coast, San Luis Obispo. From here, continue south to Oxnard passing through Pismo Beach, inland agricultural valleys of rolling countryside, and Santa Barbara, often described as the American Riviera.

Day 4

Oxnard – Malibu – Santa Monica – Los Angeles / driving distance: 70 mi / 120 km

Today, travel further south through, yet another beautiful stretch of coast in Malibu, and the seaside town of Santa Monica. Arrive in Los Angeles with enough time to glimpse some of the glitz and glamour of the City of Angels. Check out the Hollywood Walk of Fame, TCL (formerly Grauman’s) Chinese Theatre, the Sunset Strip, Beverly Hills, and Rodeo Drive; some of the best sights Los Angeles has to offer.

Day 5

Los Angeles

This morning, you will enjoy a comprehensive city tour of Los Angeles including hip Santa Monica, glamorous Hollywood and posh Beverly Hills. You will be able to stop by the “finish line” of Historic Route 66, see an iconic Californian lifeguard tower made famous by “Baywatch”, walk on the boulevard of stars and take a great photo of the famous Hollywood sign. The afternoon is yours to explore more on your own or join an optional excursion to Universal Studios where you will learn all about how movies are made.

Day 6

Los Angeles – Anaheim – San Diego / driving distance: 131 mi / 211 km

This morning, make your way south to Anaheim, Orange County’s headquarters for fun. Spend the day surrounded by icons and classic characters at the original Disneyland Park or at its companion park, Disney California Adventure Park (optional, fees apply). Visit the nation’s oldest theme park, Knott’s Berry Farm, filled with old west history and thrill rides (optional, fees apply). Or choose from one of Anaheim’s many other fun-filled attractions before continuing further south to San Diego whose cool breezes, tranquil waters, and miles of world-renowned beaches welcome visitors from all over the world.

Day 7

San Diego

A full day to discover some of San Diego’s attractions such as: Balboa Park, Old Town, SeaWorld, which is the largest park in the world devoted to marine life, Coronado Beach, the San Diego Zoo, and Seaport Village.

Day 8

San Diego – Las Vegas / driving distance: 336 mi / 538 km

Drive north past Lake Elsinore to the picturesque town of Temecula. Enjoy famed rolling hills and vineyards on your way to Las Vegas, one of the most popular adult playgrounds in the world.

Day 9-10

Las Vegas

Two full days at leisure for you to either take a short drive to Lake Mead and Hoover Dam, or see one of the great natural wonders of the world, the spectacular Grand Canyon, on an optional day trip by air. In form, glowing color, and geological significance, the Grand Canyon of the Colorado River is unsurpassed. The canyon is 277 miles long, averages 10 miles in width from rim to rim and is 5,700 feet deep.

Day 11

Las Vegas – Zion National Park / driving distance: 165 mi / 265 km

Leave the man-made wonder of Las Vegas and travel through the desert to the Colorado Plateau and the natural wonders of the National Parks. Travel through St. George and the charming town of Springdale before arriving at Zion National Park. You have a full afternoon to explore this magnificent park with its amazing canyons. There are trails to explore for every ability level.

Day 12

Zion National Park – Bryce Canyon / driving distance: 90 mi / 144 km

Travel to central Utah and visit the majestic hoodoos of Bryce Canyon. Nature’s artistry has created rocks in various shades of red, formed by erosion into pinnacles and spires, even more stunning against the blue skies of the area. You may want to explore the canyon by walking or by horseback. In the summer months you may even be able to enjoy the local rodeo!

Day 13

Bryce Canyon – Page/Lake Powell / driving distance: 155 mi / 249 km

In the morning, make sure to view the dazzling display of color and light of the sunrise at Bryce Point. The sun rising above the canyon ignites the red rock spires turning them into an ever-changing kaleidoscope of color. Continue south through Utah, passing through the charming western town of Kanab where many cowboy films have been made. Later, arrive in Page and visit the Glen Canyon Dam and magnificent Lake Powell with its crystal blue waters. In the afternoon or evening you may want to take a cruise on Lake Powell.

Day 14

Page/Lake Powell – Grand Canyon / driving distance: 136 mi / 218 km

This morning, you may want to take the time to take a guided tour of the slot canyons of Antelope Canyon before heading to the Grand Canyon. These canyons are known for their varying color of sandstone and are a photographer’s dream. It is a short drive to the Grand Canyon, one of the natural wonders of the world. Spend your time walking along the rim of the canyon, participating in a ranger led talk or maybe take a helicopter flight above the canyon.

Day 15

Grand Canyon

A full day at leisure to see one of the great natural wonders of the world, the spectacular Grand Canyon, on an optional day trip by air. In form, color, and geological significance, the Grand Canyon of the Colorado River is unsurpassed. The canyon is 277 miles long, averaging 10 miles in width from rim to rim and is 5,700 feet deep.

Day 16

Grand Canyon – Las Vegas / driving distance: 276 mi / 444 km

Leave the grandeur of the Canyon behind as you head west today through Williams and Kingman, the heart of Historic Route 66 and one of Arizona’s hidden treasures, to Hoover Dam. Considered the largest single public works project in the history of the U.S., Hoover Dam straddles the mighty Colorado River, which forms the border between Nevada and Arizona and brings much-needed water and power to the Southwest. Continue to Las Vegas, Nevada, a city that needs no introduction.
