Rocky Mountains Region

Including Colorado, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming, Mountain Region is a fabulous destination. Basking in the beauty of the glorious Rocky Mountains, this region is an awesome home to wildlife and a rewarding destination for travellers. Stunning in its vastness, home to real cowboy and Indian culture, its wilderness areas preserve ancient landscapes that harbor bison, bears and other species rarely seen elsewhere.

Utah represents the best of both the Rocky Mountains and the desert southwest with colours that are so diverse and mountains so majestic. Impressive vistas and inspiring landscapes from Alpine meadows to red rock are around every corner. Some of the state’s most dramatic geographical treasures include Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

Wyoming features landscapes that can be found nowhere else in the world, natural wonders that thrill hundreds of thousands of visitors every year and memories that will linger for a lifetime. Explore the one-of-a-kind natural splendors of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Wyoming is one of the few remaining parts of the United States where you can get an up-close and personal glimpse of the true American West. As myth tells, Wyoming is the state where the cowboy was born and here you will discover that the West is indeed still wild.

Montana is home to two of the world’s greatest treasures, Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks. Montana is also home to seven Indian reservations and many attractions detailing the rich history of Montana’s eleven tribes: several Pow Wows are held annually, and are open to the public. A true western adventure is never far away and ranches are also a popular part of the Montana vacation experience.

North Dakota and South Dakota are home to a significant Native American population, and several of the reservations can be explored via the Native American Scenic Byway in South Dakota. Visitors can walk in the footsteps of legends like Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane in Deadwood, where the west is still wild. Experience buffalo roaming the wide open spaces in Custer State Park, where a host of other wildlife will greet you.

River canyons, mountains, lakes and farmland dominate Idaho’s and Colorado’s landscapes. And today they offer up the same forests, mountains, rivers and lakes that challenged the early-day tribes, trappers and wagon-train pioneers. Nature here is breathtaking.
